The Return of Elvis Oats!!

I’d been regularly eating oatmeal for breakfast for four years or so til this spring (i.e., before I knew I was pregnant) — when I suddenly couldn’t stomach oats.

I wasn’t sure if it was the time of year– oats felt too heavy in warmer weather — or un-diagnosed first-trimester gag-reflexes … or maybe I was just sick of the same breakfast day in and day out … but whatever the case, my oats canister remained untouched for six months.

And so I’ve been religiously breakfasting on Eggo blueberry Nutrigrain waffles and turkey bacon or cold cereal. Processed crap, but oh-so-good when frankly nothing else will do. Continue reading “The Return of Elvis Oats!!”

Holy YUM

Not my pic, but I love it!

I love, love, love oatmeal and eat it nearly every morning for breakfast.

With all the variations out there, I’m never bored and there’s nothing like it, especially in the chilly fall/winter months.

To get in the holiday spirit, this morning I decided to add a splash of Silk Nog (which I yapped about here last year) into a packet of Quaker High Fiber Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal for a quickie breakfast.

Oh my LORD was this a heavenly, creamy combo of deliciousness! Continue reading “Holy YUM”

Oatmeal Bliss

This summer, I couldn’t stomach my favorite go-to breakfast, but now that fall is here, I’m all over it once again, and couldn’t be happier.

My favorite way to fix it:

Cran-Apple Oats
1/2 c. uncooked oats
1 c. skim milk
1 small apple, diced (I’m loving Honeycrisps now)
handful of fresh cranberries
cinnamon and a swirl of SF maple syrup.

MMMMM good. The sweet apple and tangy cranberry flavors marry in the most perfect way. It also (usually) fills me from 8 am-noon. And for you WW-devotees, it’s only 5 pts.

How about you? What’s your favorite oatmeal concoction?
