Happy Birthday to Me!

Today I am 31 years old! 30 was an incredible year … between going to visit my brother in Korea, seeing my name in ink in Fitness magazine, speaking at FitBloggin, getting Rocco, watching my husband become a citizen, and discovering I was pregnant …30 was amazing in so many ways.

That said, I’m looking forward to 31 with gusto! 🙂 Continue reading “Happy Birthday to Me!”

Lost Luggage Spurs Body Image Anxiety

This is a cross-post that will be featured on WeAretheRealDeal.com tomorrow — but here’s a sneak peek! 🙂

If you happen to follow me on Facebook or Twitter (or know me in real life), you probably have heard ad nauseum about my recent trip to Korea.

Sorry!

In my defense, I was super-excited and couldn’t WAIT for the moment to arrive!! And when it did, it was spectacular and everything I hoped it’d be and more.

Anyway … we got back Sunday and I did a thorough blog post (with links to photos) on my personal blog with respect to how I handled it from a disordered eating recovery perspective.

But one thing I saved was a story I wanted to share here at WeAretheRealDeal. Continue reading “Lost Luggage Spurs Body Image Anxiety”

A Journey to Remember

Sorry to sound like a whiner, but I am so exhausted and ridiculously jet-lagged.

I need to go to bed stat, but wanted to share a few trip highlights relevant to my blog’s messaging.

You can check out my photo albums on Facebook here and here.

*Also here!* New album with hubby’s pics!

(Please let me know if you can’t view these albums — Facebook says I should be able to share them!) The pictures tell the stories best, and there’s a little commentary, too 😉

Here’s my round-up of food, drink and exercise related to my trip.

Korea in 54 Days!

Fifty-four days from now (Feb 27), my husband and I will board a ginormous 747 jet non-stop from Chicago to Seoul, where we’ll spend a week with my brother in his temporarily-adopted city of Gunsan.

Though we’ve both traveled extensively in Europe and Latin America, neither of us have ever been to Asia — so we’re in for some culture shock, I’m sure!

That said, I couldn’t be more excited to see where my brother is living, teaching English, hanging out. It’ll be the trip of a lifetime and I feel fortunate to be able to do this now, while we’re still (relatively) young and don’t have children yet. Continue reading “Korea in 54 Days!”

To Korea or Not to Korea?!

A few months ago I talked about my need to cut down my Diet Coke consumption with the goal of saving money to go visit my brother in South Korea.

While I’ve cut back quite a bit (yea!), sadly, my savings account isn’t much more padded than it was in October (mostly due to the holidays and a plane ticket to N.J. that set me back some).

But all hope is not lost. Continue reading “To Korea or Not to Korea?!”
