*Big* Changes at Tales!

Welcome to my new blog, Let There Be Light. 🙂

My domain was set to expire in June and I wanted to change the name ASAP.  I hope you like the new look! I bought the domain  (http://let-there-be-light.net) and got to work! So if you want to change your RSS feeds please go ahead — though the old site will redirect. (Thank you again to Staci for my maternity shots and newborn shots–which are now on my blog!)

I’m really excited about this change. I chose this title because I feel like there is so much light in my life right now … and also because, at times, I might need some inspiration. Hence the “let there be” part of things.

So you’re probably wondering … what is she going to blog about now? Is she going to delete all the disordered eating/recovery/body image stuff? Continue reading “*Big* Changes at Tales!”

Seeing My Name in Print …

After the gym this morning — where I did a moderate hour-long cardio session; nothing insane … I ran to the grocery store to pick up eggs and a couple other things we needed at home.

I’d been eyeing the check-out counters for the past week, hoping to see the March 2010 issue of Fitness Magazine, knowing I was going to be featured in an article on the dangers of over-exercising.

Sure enough … there it was!!!

Beckoning me to buy it.

Truth be told, I couldn’t wait for my mail subscription to arrive … so I bought it on the spot, knowing I’d want an extra copy for posterity! 😉 Continue reading “Seeing My Name in Print …”

Bring On the Bagels!

Happy belated Valentine’s Day, everyone!

I am back from visiting my family in New Jersey. 🙂 We had a wonderful time doing what we do best: gabbing and noshing!

I  love my family so much and hate how far apart we live from each other.  The only person missing was my brother — but we’ll see him in 12 days in Korea 🙂

Anyway, we got in way too late for me to even think about blogging last night, so I figured I’d squeeze in a post tonight while my hubby is at class.

From a disordered eating recovery perspective, this weekend was, for all intents and purposes, a delicious carb-fest — and I enjoyed every bite. Continue reading “Bring On the Bagels!”

Talking Tile

Random person laying tile down

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you might recall the flood back in September that ruined our finished basement when my in-laws were visiting.

With all the mold and other nastiness, we just couldn’t leave it.

The contractors we hired to get rid of the flood waters back then dittoed our sentiments.

They recommended we take out the berber carpet and lay something else down, and warned against carpet because we could find ourselves in a similar situation once again.

But with my husband in business school and both of us working, we’ve not touched the basement.

Until now.

This weekend marked three years since we bought our house, so it was almost funny in a way that we found ourselves doing a major home renovation this very weekend, three years later.

After doing research, we opted to tile the basement. Neither of us had ever tiled before. A good friend helped my husband get started, and then I pitched in later on. Continue reading “Talking Tile”
