Fall into Winter

Not sure if I even have any readers left these days, but this fall has been incredibly busy and stressful — between Maya starting both school and Hebrew school, soccer for both kids, gymnastics, my inactivity which has led to weight gain — ugh —  a busy social life for our little family, and election depression … I don’t know where the time has gone. Writing and working out — my sources of “me time” — have both fallen to the wayside — and my mind and body both feel it. So do my jeans. :-/. And, unlike in previous periods of my life where I’ve been OK with a gain because I was happy and feeling carefree … this time, none of the above is true. Basically, I am NOT happy with this gain in spite of all the good in my life … And practically-speaking … I can’t afford a new wardrobe.

So I know what to do and will do it. It will just take time. Time, time, time.

On a positive note, I have two new blog posts to share that I wrote for Kveller.com. I’ve been freelancing for them on occasion this year and am loving the opportunity to get my writing out there on bigger platforms– and, side note, my November 11 post was shared by Mayim Bialyk herself on her Facebook page — which is likely why it got more than 13K shares 😉 (I think Mayim founded Kveller??).

November 18, 2016: How I Finally Found a Jewish Community in Our Small Midwestern Town. Published at Kveller.com

November 11, 2016: The Anti-Semitism That’s Rusen Since Trump Was Elected Is Real. And Scary.

Thanks to those readers who are still here — I need to figure out what direction this blog will take, but for now … I hope you are happy and healthy and I wish you and your family a joyous holiday season.

  1. Hey there! I found your blog via My Jewish Learninf, and am so thankful. We live an hour north of Lansing, MI. We would be the third Jewish family in our area- except we’re not Jewish yet. We are considering considering converting amid a sea of family, friends, and community who are Christian. It’S nice to know there’s another mom out there who is dedicated to her faith despite a smaller community. I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future. Peace and blessings.
