BOY!
Well, my female intuition failed me, but I can’t complain because we are VERY excited to share that we’re having a little BOY this fall!!
To be honest, I was totally shocked to discover he was a he … but he was super-cooperative and showed us he was a boy pretty much immediately. Luis didn’t have a preference either way – just wanted a healthy baby – but it was obvious to see just how happy he was to find out he’d have a son … a legacy. 🙂 And Maya? Well, she was more concerned with the tech “cleaning mommy’s belly” as she said, than what was on the screen 😉 She was interested for all of five minutes!
Our world is going to be rocked! Going from one child to two is surely going to be a huge change, and parenting a boy is surely going to be a different experience than parenting a boy.
That said, we are super-excited for what’s to come. And now comes the fun part … picking out his name 🙂
I know the next few months will fly by and so for now, we’re just going to soak it up and enjoy this time as our little trio, before three becomes four and our family dynamic shifts.
All looks good and healthy and I’m measuring right where I should be. Weight gain has been right on track and I almost choked when the doctor said, “Well you were on the thinner side to begin with,” with respect to my starting weight/size. I have never considered myself on the “thinner side”of anything! Either way, I’m doing fine. They like to see a 10-lb gain at least by 20 weeks, so I was more than OK with my current gain (11-13 depending on the day).
At this point, I can start thinking about scheduling my repeat C-section (future post to come about this choice) for the 39th week — provided things don’t happen sooner). I’m due October 9, so any time after the 2nd is OK … but the 2nd is my birthday and I’d prefer not to have major surgery on my birthday. 😉 We got engaged October 4 though … so that would be really special. We shall see!!
I am just relieved he is looking so good and cute in there — kicking and squirming all over and being, well, a boy 😉

Awww man, I was wrong! Haha, congratulations though! So glad your little man is looking good and healthy. Was Maya still insisting on it being a sister after the appointment? (SO cool that she got to go!)
I was wrong, too–don’t feel bad! LOL no, she actually was telling me she’s having a bro-der 🙂 I think she’s over it 🙂
Woohoo – I’m never right! Boys are so FUN. I had three sisters, and now, two sons and my stepdaughter’s sixteen. Guess which two consistently provide me with less drama? lol CONGRATULATIONS!
LOL .. thanks so much!! I will be turning to all my mommy friends with boys for advice!
Ahh! Congratulations! I just had my second boy. They are so much fun. Stock up on all things cars and trucks.
Congrats! LOL … we have quite a few cars and trucks already-but we will definitely need more. Guess all those pretty bows and accessories won’t be reused 😉
Yay yay yay yay!!! There is not a second that goes by that I don’t looooove being the mommy of a boy! 🙂 Of course, I don’t know what it’s like to have a girl, but I can swear up and down that having a boy is awesome! I’m so excited for you guys!
Congratulations …. so, so excited for you!!! I’m with Candice, I loooooove being Mommy to a little guy. They are so much fun and you will soon find yourself involved in all things boy 🙂 … another adventure!! Sending lots of love & hugs!
Aw thanks, Lisa!! XOXO miss you! We are very excited!
Miss you too!! Forgot to mention … wait until he turns 3 and is asking for a “real” chain saw for his birthday 🙂 … oh and a “real” fire truck plus a mower, “wack weed” and a leaf blower. So much fun :-)! Looking forward to seeing you next week.
