Holy SMOKES.
Today, the most crazy thing happened: Anderson Cooper’s talent people found my blog and asked if I’d be interested in flying to NY to do a future segment on night-time eating disorders.
And I had to say no.
Anderson Cooper is one of my favorite celebrities and Luis and I watch his show (AC 360) religiously each night. Do you know how painful it was to say no? But also, do you know how proud I was to be ABLE to say “Sorry, but I’m not a good fit, after all”???
You see, they want someone who is still in the throes of this condition, and being 3+ years removed from that world, I wouldn’t be a good fit. I was hoping the recovery aspect would intrigue them but I didn’t push on it. (I said if they had a need for someone on the other side of the spectrum — the recovered side — to let me know, and the booking contact told me she most certainly would).
So sadly, you will not see my face on Anderson Cooper Live (nor will I score a free trip home to NY/NJ!)… but it gives me further fuel to pursue my book proposal idea.
And let me shout it from the mountain-tops … Anderson Cooper’s people FOUND MY BLOG!!!! And in case they are reading … I’m here and willing to talk about my experiences … past and present … any time.
You know where to find me. 😉
How about you? They’re looking for people suffering with night-time eating issues currently … if you fit the bill and are comfortable talking on national TV, let me know and I can put you in touch with the talent agent.
Congratulations, Melissa! What an honor to have AC’s people contact you!! I hope they want to bring you on the show to talk about recovery. You must pursue your book!!! Your writing is phenomenal!
