Blogging has led me to some incredible opportunities … and another one came to fruition today.
A couple months back, FitPregnancy asked its Facebook fans if anyone was willing to share their story of having battled an eating disorder or disordered eating issues prior to pregnancy; to discuss how they handled pregnancy with such a history.
As I like to consider myself an advocate for women struggling with these issues — and a success story, at that (hope that doesn’t sound cocky) — I wrote the editor. The next day, I got a response that they were interested in my story. She asked me to answer some questions via email and said it would run in the October/November 2012 issue.
We went back and forth over the summer, fact-checking … and to be honest, I forgot about it. But then today my aunt, a nurse in an OB/GYN’s office, told me the issue had arrived at her office. (She knew the article was coming).
At first, I freaked internally, not remembering all I’d said in the interview. But I found the fact-checking statements in an email and felt a little better. It was my words, and there was nothing to be ashamed of.
It won’t be published online til AFTER the new issue comes out (December/January). So unfortunately, I can’t share a link. But here is a pic I took of the article.
I’m proud of this piece. I’ve come a long way, and it’s OK to feel proud about that. And I owe so much of my “success” (if you can call it that?) in this realm to blogging and to you, my readers, who have stuck by me.
So thank you!!!

Amen! 🙂 Thanks–and I totally knew what you meant!
Ha, sorry – that made it sound like this was your first time to the rodeo, and I know you’ve been published lots of times before.
So proud of you, Melissa!! (for so many reasons)
