Reasons to Smile

I haven’t been blogging a lot lately because I just don’t have much to say, except that I love this little girl more than life itself!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ (But you already knew that).

So I will say this: sometimes the littlest things make us happy.

Exhibit A) I fit into a pair of pre-pregnancy Joe’s jeans this morning! Granted, they’re not my fave pair (or the smallest size I own) but they do fit and considering my monthly guest just arrived and the fact that I haven’t weighed myself in over a month (after being 0.6 away from my pre-pregnancy weight) … I see it as a victory of sorts.

Exhibit B) I saved some money last week not getting my skim chai latte and Incredible Bar each morning. I am trying to eat a little more intuitively but it doesn’t always work so well. I’m a work in progress. And Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Exhibit C) My parents come to visit Friday for the long Memorial Day weekend. Though I’ve seen my mom lots because of her most recent work location, I haven’t seen my dad since Maya was six weeks old. We Skype during the week each week, but it’s not the same. So excited for them to both be here. I heart my parents!!

Exhibit D) Maya is eating solids and getting better at it. She even opens her little birdie mouth now in anticipation of the spoon coming at her [sometimes].

Exhibit E) I’ve decided to try to nurse a little more, since my milk supply sucks lately. As a mom working outside the home, I’m limited to Friday-Sunday sessions mostly, but it’s better than nothing. I’m no longer finding nursing a chore but rather a beautiful and natural bonding experience with my daughter. While only 10 of her 24-28 oz a day of milk are from me, I feel good knowing I can provide her two feedings a day from my body.

So those are five reasons I am smiling.

How about you? What little things are making you happy at the moment?

  1. So, so glad you get to spend the weekend with your parents! I don’t have to say it; I know you will soak it all in.

As for me, I am delighting in anticipation right now. (And should definitely be packing instead of reading blogs!)
