Listening to My Body/Update

I’ve been eating more, per my doctor’s orders, and hopefully will show a gain tomorrow when I WI at home. My next doctor’s appointment isn’t until the 14th, but I’d like to check in tomorrow to see if it’s working. My hubby noticed Baby Girl looked bigger this week in my belly, so hopefully that’s a good thing!

I’ve also been listening to my body more. If before bed, I’m hungry, I have some whole grain cereal and milk or something. Likewise, if I wake up starving and can’t wait for breakfast at work (as has happened all this week), I make a small bowl of cereal and then eat again an hour or two later at work.

I am at the place now where I recognize that listening to my body is really important. I have two and a half months left (roughly) and this is when she needs to be gaining weight. And several of my girlfriends are nursing now and talk about how important it is to eat enough; how that is helping them produce more milk. It makes sense to me!

Though physically I’ve been feeling amazing, I had to call my doctor this morning because I’ve been feeling this weird acidic feeling not in my stomach but further up. Turns out it’s a normal gastric reflux related to pregnancy, because Baby Girl is pushing on my organs now as she takes up more space. She’s clearly having fun in there because from 5:30 on this morning she was awake and kicking and punching me. I realize that sounds horrible and creepy, but trust me, there’s no better feeling–than maybe eventually holding her in my arms!!

In other news, I’m going home to N.J. for the first time since May! That’s when we told my mom, dad, sister and brother our good news … before all the testing drama began. Hubby is staying behind due to school and work, but he will be painting the nursery so I’m beyond excited about that!! As a Type-A person, the fact that this room isn’t ready yet kills me — yet rationally I know we have time. I still think she will come late … just a feeling. (My due date is Dec. 19 and I was 2 weeks late when I was born). Anyway, slowly but surely, things are coming together.

My mom and sister are throwing my baby shower (yea!) Sunday, and I’m so excited to see all my family and my BFFs! It has been hard being pregnant and away from them. They haven’t felt her kick yet, or seen her move or anything — so I hope she’s on her best game this weekend and is active for me! πŸ™‚

That’s about it from this end. I know I’ve been blogging less and less but I just don’t have much to write about, except my excitement levels (and nerves) … we have another ultrasound scheduled for Oct. 26 (32 weeks) as a follow-up to the fetal echo we’d done in August–just to check to make sure she’s growing OK. I’m not gonna lie; we’re stoked at the idea of seeing her again before she’s born!

Hope everyone has a safe, happy and healthy weekend!

  1. Aww, my condolences on your reflux – I slept sitting up for my last couple of months and it sucks! 😦 Have fun at your baby shower and safe travels!

  2. Very exciting! Glad everything is going well. You’re making me want to find out our baby’s gender as early as possible! (When we get preggo, that is…)

    1. Aw, wishing you success!! It IS fun to know; originally I hadn’t wanted to know but then it was like, why *wouldn’t* we want to know, ya know!? It’s a surprise no matter when you find out, and now we can decorate and buy her cute clothes and pick out stuff like that. πŸ™‚

We’ve known for a looooon time. We found out at 11 weeks due to the nature of the CVS test I had done (it’s a DNA test so it’s like 99.9999% accurate) so we knew what she was when we found out all the things she tested negative for.

  3. The acid reflux is the worst. I did not have it until the last month of pregnancy with my daugher. I am now 25.5 weeks pregnant and it has already started. It makes it so uncomfortable to eat!
It is awesome to hear you are listening to your body right now when it comes to eating. I have to remind myself to do the same on a daily basis. Have fun visiting with your family!

  4. I had reflux already and man…it’s just gotten worse with the twinsies. My friend Tara did mail me some amazing Heartburn Tea that does wonders. It has marshmallow root in it. Delicious! I’ll dig out the box if you wanna give it a try. I can’t remember the name of it right now!

Have fun with the baby shower. πŸ™‚
