Eat, Drink and Be Merry!

This weekend I enjoyed myself to the fullest, and it felt great …

Great, that is, until I had a massive stomach-ache Sunday!! My guess is it was from eating richer foods than I’m used to, and more of them. Still, I wouldn’t have changed a second of the weekend.

So what did I enjoy? (Or should I say, what did I enjoy worth noting — I’m never going to be a food blogger taking pretty pictures or a diet blogger sharing my daily journals).

Well, it began Saturday morning with a pumpkin chocolate chip pancake (in addition to my egg white, cheese, and veggie omelet; fruit; piece of whole wheat toast ;)).

Then we went to an apple orchard with our friends where I had two piping hot, fresh donuts (iced pumpkin; cinnamon-sugar apple) and hot cocoa.

At dinner, I’d wanted the mahi-mahi but they didn’t have it on the menu (it had said so online), so instead, I went for the petite filet — vs chicken or something “safer.”  I could always use more iron in my diet, so the red meat was a good choice and it was delish and the perfect size (4 oz.).

I didn’t pass on the homemade potato chip basket (I might have in the past), enjoyed a house salad, and paired my filet with some nutritious sides: broccoli and a baked potato. It was served with a breadstick  which I also would have previously passed on. It felt nice to enjoy them. The only bummer was that the dessert options were lame (and this is me, the Dessert Queen saying it) so we made lemonade out of lemons and went back to our house for a firepit of S’mores. Mmmm!!

Then Sunday morning, I had a salt bagel (the best kind!) from the awesome bagel place in my N.J. hometown (frozen from last time I was there) and a nuked baked apple which was TO DIE FOR! And then later today I made homemade crockpot apples with raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg (today’s image). O.M.G. So good, and so healthy, even with a little sprinkle of brown sugar at the end 😉

All in all, it was a great weekend. I still found time to exercise each day and had to bring out the North Face, it was THAT cold. (Last night — 47 degrees!). Gotta love fall in Michigan — it’s totally unpredictable!

And now a new week begins. Monday marks 29 weeks — whoa!! Baby Girl is apparently the size of a small butternut squash — about 2.5 lbs. Insane!! Wishing you all a great week!
