I had my last doctor’s visit of the second trimester yesterday, and it went great!
Baby Girl’s heart rate was a beautiful 144, my hemoglobin count was “excellent,” my blood pressure was low and “excellent,” my uterus measured at 26 cm — which is right on target for being 26 weeks and change), and my weight gain (11.6 to date) was also right on target.
My OB did say to expect to gain another 10-15 in the third trimester, and that will be necessary baby weight, so I feel really good–aside from my lower back hurting a little and feeling some Braxton-Hicks contractions which apparently are quite normal for the stage I’m at.
In two weeks will be going back and starting bi-monthly visits until Thanksgiving, when I’ll start seeing my OB once a week.
We actually scheduled out all my appointments for the rest of the pregnancy and it was wild to see just how little time is left — and how much there is for us to DO! And my 32-week follow-up to the fetal echo ultrasound will be Oct. 26, so just a few weeks away and we’ll be able to see her again one last time before she’s born!
In case it’s not obvious, that’s a pic we took this morning — 26 weeks, 6 days. I’ve updated the BUMP page also if you’re interested, so you can see me grow! I’m carrying quite low, which explain why I need to go to the bathroom like a million times a day. But I FEEL wonderful and really, isn’t that what matters?!
Today is Yom Kippur. Technically, we’re not supposed to eat or drink anything for a full 24 hours and most years, I do fine with it. But being pregnant, I didn’t want to push things and vowed to go by how I felt and did a modified fast. To prepare, I had a late dinner out with friends last night (topped off with some carrot cake–my ABSOLUTE fave cake!) and then just had some water with my prenatal vitamins and folic acid supplement. I drank water throughout the day and didn’t get hungry til 2 — shocker for me!! (dinner had lots of good fat, maybe that helped?!)
Then around 3:45 I officially ate — I had an apple and PB and dark chocolate raisins while I cooked our break-the-fast dinner. 🙂 (Meat sauce, whole wheat pasta, bread & buttah, salad in case you’re curious!)
We’re going to eat soon, but I just wanted to say hi! I know I’ve not been blogging as much as usual and I realize my blog direction is very different and that I might have lost some readers, but I hope you know that this is as much part of my journey as anything else … in a way, this is what I was aspiring for — a healthy, recovered pregnancy someday!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
Michelle, you look beautiful! And your spaghetti dinner sounds delicious..can I come over next time? 🙂

Thanks, ladies! And dinner was GREAT!
glowing just glowing. your bump is so beautiful lissa! and very happy to hear you enjoyed pre-natal yoga…hope to see more reviews of your experience with that! it is a great tool for staying AWARE of your body’s changes, and a great breath practice. think less “workout” more “get in touch.” 🙂
Thanks, Clare! I wish I could take YOUR classes! And you’re right, this is more about getting in touch than anything else.
But don’t forget you were able to maybe pick up new readers as well 🙂
That is a VERY good point 😉
