Chronos vs. Kairos

I read this fun fact of the day in the editor’s letter of Good Housekeeping magazine last night at the gym.

The Greeks have two words for time: “chronos” and “kairos.”

Chronos refers to minutes, hours, days — stopwatch-time, if you will. This is where most of us focus our energy.

Kairos is event-centered, memorable time; the moments that seem to stand still when you’re fully experiencing life. This is where we ought to be focusing our energy!

And this is where I ought to be focusing my energy.

Just some food for thought on this Friday …
