Remember that totally cheesy 80s song, “Break My Stride”? In case you don’t, here’s a refresher on the lyrics, which go something like this:

Ain’t nothin’ gonna breaka my stride
Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no
I got to keep on moving
Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride
I’m running and I won’t touch ground
Oh no, I got to keep on moving

I just feel GREAT today and, to quote the song, nothing is gonna break my stride. 🙂

This weekend was quite wonderful on so many levels, culminating with the best part being that today my husband passed his citizenship exam!!!

He looked soooo handsome in his suit and red-white-and-blue striped tie (not cheesy stripes; dapper stripes which he informed me are “patriotic”) and I hope he’ll wear it again for his swearing-in ceremony (which, for the record, is TBA; apparently the interviewing process is moving quicker than the background check process so they aren’t swearing-in on the spot at Detroit right now–BOO!).

I posted on Facebook the following status update: “Many, many years ago an amazing guy with an irresistible accent asked me to please have faith in him; that someday we’d be together and it would all be worth it. It sure wasn’t easy living in two different countries … but days like today, I’m *so* glad I listened and kept the faith.”

I know how blessed and lucky I am, and though things are often stressful with my husband in school and working … I know it will all be worth it someday — just like we dealt with being apart for years and years; this is our sacrifice now for the future. And when I look at it that way — i.e., reframe it — suddenly things seem brighter.

Tonight he has class, so I’m going to hit the gym and enjoy a quiet night in. I’ve been putting together a Snapfish album for our Korea trip, and that also made me happy. Plus, today’s my daddy’s birthday and I’m SOOOOO Daddy’s little girl! 🙂 (For a ode to my dad, check out this post from last year!)

Anyway, just wanted to post a quick update. Tomorrow is also my 6-year WW anniversary and I feel really empowered by that. More on that later though. 🙂
