I know I am a few months late on this post but I am a new reader, just saw this post and had to comment. I find it very incongruous that you post about Michael Pollen and then a few days later promote something like Fiber One yogurt. Pollen’s whole message is “eat food” (ie. REAL food!) The ingredient list on this yogurt includes modified corn starch, aspartame, and artificial colors. It also touts being a great source of fiber and “hungry girl approved” Um, last I recalled yogurt isn’t supposed to have fiber! It’s supposed to be made of milk and bacteria, period. (And don’t get me started on Hungry Girl and the Frankenfoods she promotes in the name of “health”). This product represents exactly what is messed up with food in our society! This is Pollen’s example of “fiber enhanced splenda”, just a little more cleverly disguised. I don’t mean this to come off rude and I really have enjoyed reading your blog so I just want to point out that you are sending mixed messages here. I know you have spoken about integrity and only promoting things that are in line with your philosophy, so I’m figuring you just didn’t realize the disconnect here. And if you can miss it, think how easily duped is the general public who DON’T give any thought to these issues! Just food for thought 🙂
