Lots of Lattes

downtown7(Internet was down last night at home, sorry for the late post!)

So I was thinking about something Holly mentioned in the comments yesterday — about focusing on temperatures and textures of foods and how it’s helped her with intuitive eating.

Between this past weekend with my BFF visiting, and today with co-workers, I’ve had several lattes — a treat I hadn’t drank in months ($$$) and now realize how much I’ve missed.

Because it’s been cold and rainy, the hot, steamy lattes (skim, SF vanilla/SF rasp for anyone who cares!) have been my saving grace.

They’ve also been from local coffee joints (so I feel good about helping to sustain the local craptastic Michigan economy!), and they have boosted my mood so much that I couldn’t help but notice the difference.

Warm foods and drinks just make us feel good. And because of this, I can’t wait for fall … I love it; it’s my favorite time of year.

I miss my morning bowl of oats (I eat overnight oats during summer–Greek yogurt, oats, blueberries, milk, honey) and now that the fall is almost here, I have a feeling I’ll be partaking in more lattes, as well!

Have a safe, happy and healthy weekend! Be back Monday!

How about you? Do you notice a mood change based on food/drink choices?

  1. I LOVE fall!! I love using the oven and stove to make delicious baked meals and desserts. Too bad I’ll be going to college this fall and won’t have an oven 😦 Oh well. Hopefully the dining hall will have some fall-vegan-goodies! By the way, I just started really eating intuitively and your last post helped me a bit; thanks.

  2. I find lattes to be very comforting and soothing, I even drink them in the summer because I am not a fan of iced coffee drinks. I love mom and pop coffee shops. Thankfully there are more and more of them cropping up here in DC so I can easily avoid the corporate ‘bucks.

  3. Oh yes, I can relate to this for sure. Sometimes, the ultimate comfort food for me is a grilled cheese sandwich, warm, crunchy, and gooey all at once…mmm

  4. Thanks for the shout out! There is nothing that spells comfort to me more than a warm bowl of oats or a latte. Warm foods just make me feel all cozy inside. I still eat them year round, but I get more satisfaction when it’s cold out. My office is so cold (year round), that literally it puts me in the BEST mood to eat my hot oats every morning!

I LOVE fall for the smells, the holidays, and of course – the food and drinks. Bring on the apple cider. 🙂

  5. I had a tea today for the first time in months and was in heaven! I was really cold because we are in this cold snap right now so I thought a tea would be lovely, and it was! I was smiling the entire time I was drinking my tea. Even my coworker walked by my office and noticed me smiling away. I find summer to be a bit too revealing for me since I’ve gained weight but haven’t quite gotten to the point where I’m overjoyed about it. So the fall brings that kind of comfor for me as well.

  6. I always love the change of weather in either direction: hot to cool or cool to hot. At this time of year, I am getting in the mood to light candles, get out the slow cooker and drink herbal tea every night. And the holidays are just the best time of year. 🙂

    Happy weekend!
